Dr. Roberts Welcome Letter 2019

Dear District 6 Family,

Welcome to the 2019-20 school year!  It is hard to believe but the summer is wrapping up and it is time for us to start another school year.  I hope that all of you have enjoyed your time with family and friends and are feeling rejuvenated as well as excited to return to serve the children of District 6. Throughout the summer I have had the pleasure of talking with parents and children as they have been registering for school and I can assure you that our students are incredibly excited to see you!

The impression you make on the students that you serve lasts a lifetime and the level of influence you have is absolutely tremendous. They need you and you have the ability to extend such a positive impact on their lives both inside and outside of the classroom, not only this school year but for years to come.  Our Institute Days this year will continue to focus on what is most important; our relationship with our students, families and staff.  We have a schedule for both Thursday and Friday that I believe honors relationships by recognizing the need to ensure that we train to the most important needs and recognize that staff need time in their buildings to prepare for the start of the year. To address both of those needs, we have kept Thursday as a District-wide training day and Friday is a Building-based day.

Thursday’s training schedule is included to assist you in identifying times and locations for trainings/activities that pertain to you. Thursday has a minimal amount of trainings to keep things focused and manageable for staff. On Thursday, to kick-off our day together, breakfast will be provided from 7:30-8:15 am. Immediately following breakfast will be our Opening Welcome. It is my hope you find this to be something special as we start the year together. A Staff Appreciation Lunch will also be provided to thank you for all that you do for our students and families. I am grateful for each of you and know that you give so much to this District and the students you serve; this is just a small token of appreciation. You are a group of special people who devote your lives to a profession that is impactful beyond our comprehension. I am grateful to be on this team with you; doing this work together on behalf of the amazing children we serve. It is an honor to work alongside of you.

Your Biggest Fan,

Dr. Keely Roberts, Superintendent
